Asbestos Mesothelioma and Remission

Brian Bedell

Anyone who suffers from cancer knows that there is no cure for the disease that they have. The only hope for a cancer sufferer is to send the disease into remission. For many forms of cancer like asbestos mesothelioma, this is a long shot. It does not stop the doctors from trying to provide treatment which will help to send the disease into remission. It also does not stop the patients from trying to send mesothelioma into remission.

One of the biggest problems that mesothelioma sufferers are up against is that the disease is not normally caught until it is in the later stages of the disease. The reason for this is because symptoms of the disease do not show up until the later stages. By the time the patient realizes that they need to go to the doctor, it might be too late already. After all, the best hope of putting any kind of cancer into remission is to catch it in the earlier stages of the disease.

There are a few things which people suffering from mesothelioma have attributed to helping in sending their cancer into remission. Many have attributed natural changes to their success. Others attribute the remission to modern science. Doctors recommend both methods of therapy in order to have a higher possibility of sending the disease into remission. Until more is found out about the disease and how to cure it, most people are willing to try anything.

Natural Treatment Methods

Many of those who have seen success in sending their cancer into remission attribute their success to nothing more than changing the foods that they eat and the way that they live their life. Things like adding large amounts of supplements to an already healthy diet have seemed to help in increasing the immune system and encouraging it to fight off the cancer cells which are developing in the body. Increases in exercise, when possible, have also been attributed to helping to send the disease into remission.

Modern Treatment Methods

Chemotherapy, surgery and radiation have all been used to successfully send mesothelioma into remission. The doctors will use the methods to both eliminate the cells which are already in the body as well as make it difficult for new cells to develop. Some patients have noticed successful remission by simply taking Chemotherapy drugs like Cisplatin. Others have gone through a combination of chemo and surgery to make sure that the tumors are removed and that no new cells will start to grow in their place.

Mixed Treatment Methods

The majority of patients will go through a mix of methods to see what works the best for them. The current wisdom is that there are different forms of the disease as well as different immune systems to deal with. No two cases can be approached in the same way. Not only do results sending mesothelioma into remission vary, so does the length of time of the remission. Some cases have been sent into a seeming permanent remission while others only last around a month.
